Village of marijuana

Farmers of a village in southern Albania produce 900 tonnes of cannabis every year, which amounts to seize market value of 4.5 billion euros, although its cultivation is illegal.

Lazarat protect villagers and threaten strangers with guns. For years, law enforcement agencies can hardly take any steps to prevent the cultivation of marijuana.

Criminal network between Albania and Italy said that in terms of sales controlled in many cases by members of the people to defend justice and politics, where in exchange for silence offered before.

A camera crew set to a European journalists has become the first group to be allowed to enter the village.
